Wearing a pair of Haus of Brimstone horns is like adorning oneself with a special kind of crown: an accessory that makes a bold statement and makes you feel like royalty—demonic royalty, that is. As a person who was raised under strict evangelical principles, I was drawn to the Haus of Brimstone devil horns right away (the classic Imp Horns are my favorite, though the Tiefling Horns have been calling to me), reveling in the rebellious and regal style that horns add to one’s look.
Why wear horns? The simple addition of one powerful accessory can transform your look, confidence, and even your relationship to spiritual expression.
Rejecting Christian Nationalism
With Tr*mp administration and the GOP continuing to push conservative policies, Christian ideals, and toxic, traditional beliefs, Christian nationalism has been on the rise, creating a huge cause for concern for women, queer people, people of color, immigrants, and many more who are regularly targeted by religious fanatics.
In choosing to wear horns—a classic symbol of the Christian devil—I am energetically rejecting and protesting the trend of Christian nationalism and fundamentalism, proudly donning a demonic accessory—like the Azazel Horns, which I’ve had my eye on due to their commanding goat-like silhouette that screams, Keep your bible verses to yourself— that’s in opposition to the Christian cross.
Healing Religious Trauma
Growing up in a strict Christian home, I had an intense fear of Satan. I worried about being possessed by demons, of “allowing” the devil to infiltrate my soul, and, of course, of going to Hell. It wasn’t until I read John Milton’s Paradise Lost (an epic poem that was intended to highlight the consequences of spiritual disobedience but instead made me see Satan as a heroic and sympathetic figure) in college that I started seeing Satan in a different light…a much more charitable one than in the Bible.
Putting on my first pair of red devil horns felt empowering and healing, as if I was taking the symbol of an evil being that had terrified me for so long and was reclaiming it and demystifying that fear. And as a proud creature of the queer community, I can take that healing a step further by wearing a pair of Haus of Brimstone Pride Horns, giving a big “FU” to the homophobic church I was raised in.
A New Kind of Spiritual Expression
As an atheist witch and a lover of fashion and adornment, I’ve often lacked a sense of spiritual expression in my day-to-day life. My mother always wears a gold cross around her neck, my dad a silver cross on his ring, and my sister a Bible verse on her wrist. But what can witches, unholy creatures, and secular satanists wear to express their own spirituality or alternative practices?
For me, horns are one of those forms of spiritual expression, allowing me to mark myself as someone alternative, witchy, and devilish while feeling stylish as I do it.
Feeling Like a Beautiful Demonic Being
Who needs a halo when horns frame the face even better? Horns and even antlers add a touch of whimsical, demonic beauty and excitement to any look, and I feel beautiful and otherworldly when I wear them. And you can throw the Imp Horns, Incubus Horns, and Fiend Horns in your bag for quick accessorizing when you’re on the go.
They make me feel empowered: empowered to stand out, to be bold, to be different, and to be demonic. It’s why I choose to wear horns. Will you choose to wear them and stand out too?
